ZERO.1 remote tank level monitoring for LPG tanks – how it works

Know every tank level without visiting the tank. ZERO.1 is a remote tank level monitor for LPG tanks. It fits over the gauge your tank already has and sends live readings to your phone or computer. You don't drill anything and you don't open the tank. GASNEEDS supplies it in the UAE, UK, Oman and India.

Why LPG tank monitoring matters

Most LPG tanks are still checked by hand. Someone has to drive to the site, find the tank, read the dial and report back. If that check comes too late, the customer runs out of gas. If it comes too early, the truck makes a delivery that wasn't needed. Both cost money. ZERO.1 replaces those visits with a live reading that you can check whenever you need it.

How ZERO.1 works

1. The float and gauge inside your tank

Inside an LPG tank, the liquid gas sits at the bottom and a float rests on its surface. As gas is used, the level drops and the float drops with it. The float is linked to the gauge on top of the tank. As it moves, a magnet turns the gauge needle from full towards empty.

2. ZERO.1 fits over the existing gauge

ZERO.1 mounts on top of that gauge with a bracket and a few screws. You don't drill, you don't open the tank and you don't touch the gas line. This keeps installation quick and keeps the tank sealed.

3. A magnetic, Hall-effect reading

Inside its sealed housing, a Hall-effect sensor reads the position of the gauge needle magnetically. It doesn't measure pressure. It follows the needle itself and is accurate to within 2%.

4. A digital display on the device

The current level also shows on ZERO.1's own digital display, so anyone on site can see it at a glance.

5. Readings sent over the mobile network

ZERO.1 sends each reading over the mobile network using NB-IoT or LTE-M (2G fallback depends on the model). It needs no Wi-Fi and no cables. You choose how often it reports: every hour, every day or every week.

6. Live levels in WebVision

Every reading arrives in WebVision, which shows live levels in percent and litres, the full reading history and monthly consumption. It works on a phone, tablet or desktop.

7. Alarms before a tank runs low

You can set low-level alarms so you know when a refill is due, well before the customer runs out.

Uses of ZERO.1

  • LPG distributors and fleet operators: plan delivery routes from real levels instead of fixed schedules, and cut wasted trips.
  • Restaurants and commercial kitchens: avoid running out of gas in the middle of service.
  • Hotels, hospitals and schools: keep a steady supply for kitchens, laundries and hot water.
  • Residential towers, compounds and villas: let building managers watch shared tanks without going up to the roof.
  • Industrial and manufacturing sites: keep the process running and track gas use per site.
  • Farms and remote sites: monitor tanks that are a long way from your team.
  • Facility management companies: see many tanks across many sites on one dashboard.

Key benefits

  • Fewer site visits: check levels remotely instead of sending someone to read the dial.
  • No run-outs: alarms warn you in time to plan a refill.
  • Smarter deliveries: fill tanks when they need it, not on a guess.
  • Consumption insight: history and monthly use for each tank.
  • Simple installation: fits the existing gauge with no drilling.

Built for harsh sites

  • ATEX Zone 0 and IECEx certified for hazardous areas
  • IP68 sealed against dust and water, IK08 impact rated
  • Operating temperature from −25 °C to +70 °C
  • Lithium battery estimated to last up to 8 years with weekly reporting*
  • Made in Italy by Hiteks and supplied by GASNEEDS

*Battery life is an estimate and depends on reporting interval, signal and temperature.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to drill or open my LPG tank to fit ZERO.1?

No. ZERO.1 fits over the existing float gauge with a bracket and a few screws. Installation should be done by qualified staff, following the official Hiteks manual.

Does ZERO.1 need Wi-Fi?

No. It sends readings over the mobile network (NB-IoT or LTE-M), so it works on sites without Wi-Fi or cabling.

How accurate is it?

The Hall-effect sensor follows the gauge needle to better than 2%.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 8 years (estimated) with weekly reporting, or about 4 to 8 years with daily reporting, depending on signal and temperature.

Where is ZERO.1 available?

GASNEEDS supplies ZERO.1 in the UAE, UK, Oman and India.
